Private Land Management

CARDINIA ENVIRONMENT COALITION INC (CEC) is an umbrella group comprising 30 local Friends, Landcare and conservation groups. The CEC works across the Central Western Port and part of the Southern Yarra Ranges catchments.

The CEC portfolio area of Private Land Management is detailed below.interactive structure

Landcare is all about managing our natural resources sustainably in partnership with private landholders.

Established and maintained by the CEC, the Western Port Catchment Landcare Network is a community based network that aims to develop a network of biolinks of indigenous vegetation across the catchment connecting remnants on private and public land. The WPCLN works with its local Landcare member groups and the community to encourage sustainable land management practices. Current projects include Sustainable Farming Systems, Salinity Alert! and Biolinks. Our project work is supported through funding from the Natural Heritage Trust, National Landcare Program, Port Phillip and Westernport CMA, Cardinia Shire and Baw Baw Shire.

In addition, the Cardinia Trust for Nature Covenant Owners Group is an informal group that is a member of the CEC. Members of this group have covenanted their properties to permanently protect and enhance existing, quality remnant vegetation on their property with support from Trust for Nature.
